Veronika Kanya is a completely blind woman. Veronika started martial arts training when she lost her eyesight over 25 years ago. Veronika found her current self defense club seven years ago, and it was the beginning of something very new and exciting in Veronika’s journey and love of the martial arts. Since then, Veronika has received her Level One Self Defense Instructors Certificate and has started a self defense program for clients of the Canadian National Institute for the Blind. Veronika’s self defense training program is effective, practical, and not only accessible, but adaptive and realistic to everyone’s particular abilities.
Veronika’s passion to empower others is deeply rooted. Veronika has been practicing life coaching and running workshops since she received her Masters Level Neural-linguistic Programming Life Coaching Certificate in 2010. Veronika is a volunteer impact speaker for the United Way Winnipeg’s Speakers Bureau and enjoys speaking in public with her beautiful guide dog, Apache, by her side.
Veronika is pictured above with Apache. This photo was taken during a United Way fundraising event. Veronika and Apache are in front of the giant airplane, Hercules, with Apache pulling the rope connected to the plane.
