Paddle All Event – A paddling day for persons of all abilities

A paddling day for persons of all abilities. There are two pictures of adapted canoe and a dock. Both have devices installed to make them sturdy and not tip over.

 

This is an opportunity for persons with a disability to try canoeing and kayaking with the help of the lovely folks from Paddle Manitoba.

Who is this event for? Our Paddle All Event is a warm invitation to persons with a disability ages 14+ who are curious about paddling! Feel free to bring a friend, family member, or support person. Our dedicated summer staff will be on-site, ready to assist and guide participants throughout the event, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.

Where is it?  This event will be held at the Manitoba Canoe & Kayak Center on 80 Churchill Drive. There is free parking on the road across from the facility. There are bike racks to lock your bike. Transit Plus provides drop-off and pick-up upon request.

When is it? This event will be held on July 18th, 2024 from 6pm-8pm. 

What to wear and bring? You should wear comfortable clothing that you don’t mind getting a little wet. Athletic shorts or pants and a shirt. Wear a hat and sunglasses if it’s sunny. Bring a water bottle, a towel, and a change of dry clothes for after the event. There are change rooms and washrooms available (not fully accessible for wheelchairs)

Why try this sport? You get to learn something new and fun in a safe environment with the support of your family, friends, and others like you! Paddling can be very relaxing and an experience to discover our beautiful waterways.

  1. Paddling is one of 28 Paralympic sports. 
  2. The word “kayak means “man’s boat” or “hunter’s boat.”
  3. The average speed of a canoe is 5kph.
